On behalf of one of our clients, we're looking for Senior and Team Lead Backend Engineers to build and scale high-traffic, real-time backend systems in a modern .NET environment.
These roles are full-time and candidates need to be based in Portugal or willing to be based in Portugal.
Senior Backend Engineer
You will:
- Design, build, and own backend services in a microservices, event-driven architecture.
- Work with real-time features, asynchronous messaging (e.g. RabbitMQ/Kafka), and production-scale systems.
- Take features from design to production: coding, testing, monitoring, performance, and incident handling.
- Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and other teams in an agile, in-house product environment.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute actively to code reviews and design discussions.
- Mentor other engineers and share best practices within the team.
We're looking for:
- Strong professional experience in .NET/C# backend development
- Proven work on large-scale, in-house product platforms
- Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, monitoring, and observability.
- Up-to-date knowledge of modern backend practices, design patterns, and system scalability.
- Clear, concise communication and the ability to stay on point when explaining solutions.
Team Leads will additionally:
- Have proven, official leadership experience: running 1:1s, performance reviews, setting objectives, coaching and growing engineers.
- Lead delivery: prioritization, planning, risk management, and cross-team collaboration in a product company setting.
- Balance hands-on backend work with people leadership (roughly 50/50), ensuring quality, technical direction, and healthy team dynamics.
