We are seeking a Senior SEC Staff Accountant to be responsible for the daily, monthly and quarterly general ledger accounting activity, daily bank activities and corporate level projects/tasks supporting our customer care and information technology lines of business. This position is highly visible to senior management and is critical to producing accurate and timely financial information for a publicly traded company. This position is responsible for the general ledger accounting activity for the Customer Care line of business and Information Technology shared services. This position is critical to producing accurate and timely financial information for Harte Hanks' public and internal reporting.


Working hours: 8 AM - 5 PM WEST


Responsibilities:

  • Calculate, prepare and record journal entries including prepaid amortization, intercompany, revenue entries, payroll entries, accruals and cash.
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts and prepare related schedules
  • Equity transaction accounting including various equity compensation costing and valuations
  • Manage audit process and related SEC reporting
  • Prepare and maintain fixed asset ledgers including reconciliation
  • Interact with operations personnel to ensure proper recording of revenue and accuracy of financial results
  • Liaison with internal account representatives on invoicing issues
  • Comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, as well as internal controls
  • Participate in individual and team projects
  • Work with international team members
  • Special projects as needed


Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • 5+ years of related accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Excel
  • Use of NetSuite Accounting and Workiva software is a plus
  • Prior experience with processing and reporting equity transactions and SEC reporting
  • Strong internal and external communications skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to work successfully in a multi-tasked, fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to independently analyze and resolve problems
  • Detail oriented with the ability to organize workload to work effectively and efficiently
  • Recommend continuous accounting workflow improvements
