We are looking for a Risk Manager to establish, operate and continuously develop the internal risk management framework of an investment management company and the alternative investment funds under its management.

This is a key position within the organisation, working independently from the investment function and combining hands-on risk oversight with direct interaction with the Board and other relevant stakeholders.

Description

• Develop, maintain and operate the company's risk management framework, policies, risk limits and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs);
• Identify, assess and monitor investment, market, liquidity, concentration, counterparty, credit and operational risks across the funds under management;
• Independently assess material investment risks and provide effective and constructive challenge to the Investment team;
• Monitor compliance with established risk limits and coordinate the escalation and remediation of actual or potential breaches;
• Perform stress testing and scenario analysis across relevant portfolios;
• Prepare regular and comprehensive risk reporting to the Board;
• Contribute to regulatory reporting requirements and the assessment of new funds, products and investment strategies;
• Support the oversight of outsourced providers from a risk management perspective;
• Liaise with the Board, auditors, depositaries and other relevant stakeholders on risk-related matters;
• Ensure that the risk management function remains independent from the operational and investment functions.

Profile

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Risk Management or a related field;
• At least 4 years of professional experience within asset management, investment funds, private equity, banking, risk advisory or another regulated financial institution;
• Strong understanding of investment and financial risk;
• Previous exposure to alternative investment funds, private markets or illiquid assets will be highly valued;
• Good knowledge of risk management frameworks, stress testing and portfolio risk analysis;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
• Confidence to constructively challenge senior investment professionals while maintaining a collaborative approach;
• Excellent written communication and reporting skills;
• High degree of independence, integrity and professional judgement;
• Professional fluency in Portuguese and English.
