Description

• Act as the formally appointed Compliance Officer and AML/CFT Responsible Officer.
• Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures.
• Coordinate AML/CFT activities, including KYC/KYB reviews, beneficial ownership assessments, sanctions screening and PEP verification.
• Maintain compliance registers, controls and reporting frameworks.
• Identify, escalate and monitor regulatory breaches, deficiencies and compliance risks.
• Track regulatory developments and support regulatory filings and interactions with authorities.
• Provide day-to-day legal and regulatory advice to the management company and funds under management.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, fund documentation and service provider contracts.
• Liaise with external legal advisers and regulatory stakeholders.
• Support the Board in governance, regulatory and legal matters.
• Contribute to the design, implementation and enhancement of compliance policies and internal controls.
• Assist in building and strengthening processes within a growing organisation.

Profile

• Law degree is mandatory.
• Admission to the Portuguese Bar Association is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in Compliance, Legal or Financial Regulatory roles.
• Background within asset management, investment funds, private equity, venture capital, banking or law firms with a financial regulatory practice.
• Solid understanding of Portuguese and European financial regulations.
• Strong knowledge of AML/CFT requirements, sanctions, KYC/KYB processes and beneficial ownership frameworks.
• Ability to draft, review and negotiate legal and regulatory documentation.
• Previous experience interacting with CMVM or other financial regulators is highly valued.
• Experience within investment funds, management companies or private market structures is strongly preferred.
• Excellent drafting and communication skills in both Portuguese and English.
• Strong professional judgement, integrity and independence.
• Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial and fast-growing environment.
