We are looking for a Valuation Specialist to join an investment management company and take responsibility for the independent valuation analysis of investments held across its managed funds.
This is a highly analytical position combining financial modelling, investment valuation and portfolio analysis. The valuation function operates independently from portfolio management, ensuring robust and objective assessment of portfolio investments.
Description
- Implement and maintain appropriate valuation methodologies for private and illiquid investments;
- Perform and independently review periodic fair-value valuations of portfolio investments;
- Develop and maintain robust financial and valuation models, assessing key assumptions and relevant market inputs;
- Independently challenge valuation assumptions and information provided by the Investment team and portfolio companies;
- Analyse portfolio companies' financial performance, budgets, business plans and KPIs for valuation and portfolio-monitoring purposes;
- Maintain comprehensive valuation files and supporting documentation;
- Prepare valuation materials and analysis for the Board, relevant governance bodies, auditors and external valuation providers;
- Prepare periodic independent portfolio performance and valuation analysis;
- Support NAV, regulatory and investor reporting processes through accurate portfolio and valuation data;
- Coordinate with Finance, Risk, Investment teams and external providers on valuation-related matters.
Profile
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Management or a related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, with significant exposure to the valuation of private and illiquid assets;
- Demonstrable experience preparing or reviewing fair-value valuations of unlisted equity investments;
- Previous experience within a Big 4 valuation practice, independent valuation firm, regulated asset manager or investment fund;
- Advanced financial modelling and Excel skills;
- Strong knowledge of fair-value methodologies and the valuation of illiquid assets;
- Experience analysing portfolio-company financial information, budgets and KPIs will be highly valued;
- Strong accounting knowledge and financial statement analysis capabilities;
- Ability to independently challenge assumptions and clearly document valuation conclusions;
- High level of accuracy, analytical rigour and attention to detail;
- Professional proficiency in Portuguese and English is mandatory.
