Position Overview: The IT Infrastructure Finance Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing the financial data and performance of the IT infrastructure operations within an organization. This role combines expertise in finance with a strong understanding of the IT infrastructure domains, enabling the individual to oversee budgeting, forecasting, accruals, cost optimization, performance analysis and collaboration with infrastructure services providers to ensure the alignment of financial goals with IT strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT cost management, financial reporting, and a keen understanding of the infrastructure technology lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Budgeting:
- Manage, and track IT infrastructure budgets, ensuring that projects are completed within allocated financial parameters.
- Work closely with IT teams to gather and analyze infrastructure solutions costs related to hardware, software, cloud services, service providers, telecommunications, and network infrastructure.
- Provide financial modeling and projections for ongoing and upcoming IT infrastructure investments.
- Cost Optimization and Analysis:
- Continuously analyze IT infrastructure spending to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Evaluate vendor service agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and recommend adjustments where necessary, collaborating with the Vendor Management and IT Procurement organizations.
- Monitor ongoing operating expenses and capital expenditures to ensure alignment with the financial goals of the organization.
- Financial Reporting and Forecasting:
- Prepare and present regular financial reports on the performance of IT infrastructure investments, including variance analysis and explanations for budget deviations.
- Support financial forecasting activities, adjusting projections based on updated IT needs and financial performance.
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and recommendations related to IT infrastructure decisions and investments.
- IT Project Financial Management:
- Collaborate with project managers to track the financial status of IT infrastructure projects, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated and timelines are adhered to.
- Provide financial, insights for project decision-making, such as cost-benefit analysis, risk assessments, and impact analyses.
- Assist with managing the procurement process, ensuring all purchases and investments in IT infrastructure are within budget and follow organizational financial controls.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify financial risks related to IT infrastructure and develop mitigation strategies to minimize the impact on the organization's finances.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, auditing requirements, and internal policies regarding IT investments.
- Work with other departments, such as IT finance, accounts payable, IT vendor management, enterprise architecture, telecom expense management, and procurement, to ensure all contracts and financial obligations are appropriately managed.
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication:
- Manage day-to-day operations of invoicing, follow-up with global infrastructure leaders regarding all the different areas, and acting as a liaison with the financial management and cost-analysis group.
- Serve as a liaison between the IT department and finance teams, translating technical needs into financial language.
- Communicate financial, insights and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support senior leadership with strategic decision-making related to the funding of IT infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, telecommunications, data center platform services, SaaS, PaaS, maintenance services, and cloud computing.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in finance or accounting, with a focus on IT or infrastructure finance preferred.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and financial modeling.
- Experience with procurement purchase orders (POs), prepaid process, payment process, service renewals, invoice approvals via Tangoe and SAP systems.
- Proficiency with financial software (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Excel) and familiarity with IT management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, diligence, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of IT lifecycle management and understanding of capital expenditure and operating expenditure in IT.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in finance or accounting (e.g., CFA, CPA).
- Experience with cost management in cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT).
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, based in Portugal.
- Occasional travel may be required.
