Role Overview

The Data Migration Functional Lead is responsible for executing and leading data migration activities for an assigned functional process area within SAP S/4HANA. This role combines strong SAP functional expertise and hands-on data migration execution, covering data analysis, harmonization, conversion, validation, and reconciliation. The Functional Lead drives collaboration with business SMEs, SAP Functional Leads, and offshore/onshore delivery teams, ensuring alignment with global template standards, Syniti methodology, and Data Migration Factory processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the assigned functional stream and related data objects across the full data migration lifecycle.

• Perform data analysis, reporting, harmonization, conversion, and reconciliation activities for the assigned process area.

• Explain SAP target data requirements and structures to business SMEs and process experts, and lead data mapping discussions.

• Align data migration activities with global template standards and rollout functional teams.

• Develop and maintain data migration and data governance rules using Syniti and other approved migration tools.

• Contribute to integrated data migration design through detailed data analysis and collaboration with on-site and offshore teams.

• Design, create, and execute data migration reports aligned with project deliverables.

• Create, maintain, and execute data load programs, supporting multiple mock loads and production cycles.

• Define and implement data quality controls, including error identification, root-cause analysis, and resolution.

• Coordinate and support testing cycles, validations, mock cutovers, and go-live activities.

• Secure and maintain complete and up-to-date documentation for data mapping, migration rules, and load procedures.

• Act as the primary liaison for stream-specific migration activities, ensuring timely communication and issue resolution.

• Support and mentor junior data migration consultants within the delivery team.

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of SAP functional or techno-functional experience in the assigned stream:

FI / CO for R2R

SD for O2C

MM for P2P

PP / PS for P2D

EWM for Warehouse Management

• At least 3 full SAP implementation or rollout lifecycles, with a strong focus on data migration.

• Proven experience working in an onsite-offshore delivery model.

Expertise

• Strong business-process knowledge for the assigned functional stream.

• Demonstrated proficiency with Syniti Data Migration / Data Governance methodology and tools.

• Hands-on experience with SAP data migration tools, such as: o Syniti o SAP Migration Cockpit o SAP Data Services o LSMW o BackOffice / Cransoft / DSP or equivalent tools

• Extensive experience in data quality management, data analysis, harmonization, and conversion planning.

• Strong understanding of SAP data structures and underlying technical data models.

• Proficiency in SQL, including query writing and understanding of relational database structures.
