Contract Consultancy contract with a global IT services provider

Our client, a global leader in technology consulting, is delivering a strategic data transformation project for one of the UKs largest food retail chains. This initiative focuses on building scalable, cloud-based data solutions that empower analytics and business intelligence across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing.
• Implement and optimize Data Vault models using Snowflake to support advanced analytics.
• Write and tune complex SQL queries for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers and Data Scientists to deliver impactful solutions.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production pipelines to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Lead technical discussions, mentor junior engineers, and promote best practices.
• Support cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS) and tools such as DBT and Airflow.
• Enforce data governance and quality standards across systems.
• Engage with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Required Skills

• 7 years of experience in data engineering.
• Strong expertise in ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline development.
• Proficiency in SQL and data transformation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, DBT, Azure or AWS.
• Solid understanding of Data Vault modeling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Airflow and other orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks.
• Exposure to retail or e-commerce data environments.
