Practice Area - CIB Global Markets, Operations & Market Risk
Corporate & Investment Banking continues to evolve under increasing regulatory pressure, complex financial products, and ongoing transformation of operating models.
Global Markets Operations and Market Risk functions play a critical role in ensuring:
- Efficient front-to-back trade lifecycle management
- Accurate P&L production and explanation
- Robust risk measurement frameworks (VaR, sensitivities, stress testing)
- High-quality data, controls, and regulatory compliance
TNP supports leading global banks across:
- Global Markets Operations (Middle Office, Product Control, Trade Support)
- Market Risk analytics and reporting
- Data, business intelligence, and regulatory transformations
- Process optimization and target operating model design
Your role
As a Junior, Consultant, or Senior Consultant, you will join high-impact client teams delivering front-to-back transformation, operational excellence, and risk management solutions within Global Markets environments.
Depending on your seniority and expertise, you will contribute to or lead assignments across:
Global Markets Operations & Product Control
- Support Middle Office and Product Control activities across asset classes
- Contribute to P&L production and P&L explained (PnL attribution) processes
- Monitor trading activity and ensure data integrity and control frameworks
- Participate in trade lifecycle management and operational processes optimization
Market Risk & Financial Analytics
- Perform risk analysis using metrics such as VaR, sensitivities, and stress scenarios
- Contribute to risk reporting and dashboards for management and regulators
- Support data analysis and reconciliation between Front Office, Risk, and Finance
Transformation & Projects
- Participate in business, regulatory, or IT-driven transformation projects
- Contribute to process improvement, automation, and data quality initiatives
- Collaborate with Front Office, Risk, Finance, and IT teams
- Work in international environments and multicultural teams
At Senior Consultant level, you will also:
- Lead workstreams and client deliverables
- Supervise and mentor junior consultants
- Contribute to business development and proposal writing
- Act as a subject-matter expert in Global Markets Operations or Market Risk
Core Technical Skills
- Financial Markets - Trading: good understanding of products (Fixed Income, FX, Equities, Derivatives) and trading environments
- Operations & Processes: strong knowledge of
- Middle Office Operations
- P&L production and P&L explained
- Trade lifecycle and control frameworks
- Risk Metrics: familiarity with VaR, sensitivities, stress testing
What you bring
Experience & Background
- Junior: 0-3 years of experience (internships included) in banking, consulting, or financial markets
- Consultant: 3-6 years of experience in Global Markets, Operations, Product Control, or Risk
- Senior Consultant: 6+ years of relevant experience in CIB environments or consulting
- Experience within international banking environments is a strong advantage
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret financial and risk data
- Understanding of front-to-back processes in Capital Markets
- Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python is a plus)
- Familiarity with banking systems (e.g., Murex or equivalent) is an advantage
Regulatory & Functional Knowledge
- Basic to solid understanding (depending on seniority) of Market Risk frameworks and banking regulations (Basel III, FRTB)
- Awareness of control frameworks and regulatory expectations
Consulting & Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and structured thinking
- Ability to engage with Front Office, Risk, Finance, and IT stakeholders
- Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
- Autonomous, rigorous, and client-oriented mindset
Education & Languages
- MSc or equivalent in Finance, Business, Engineering, or related fields
- Fluent English (mandatory)
- Portuguese is a plus
- French or Spanish is an advantage
