Job Title: Commercial Lead - Industrial Construction Project

Location: Sines, Portugal

Contract Type: Full-Time Project-Based

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leading international contractor, is delivering a major industrial construction project in Sines, Portugal. They are seeking a highly experienced Commercial Lead to take ownership of all commercial and contractual aspects of this high-profile build.

This is a key leadership position, offering the opportunity to play a central role in a complex, large-scale project within a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement the commercial strategy across the full project lifecycle
• Manage contracts, subcontractors, and supplier agreements to ensure value and compliance
• Oversee cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
• Lead negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
• Administer contracts, including variations, claims, and dispute resolution
• Work closely with project delivery, engineering, and procurement teams
• Provide leadership and direction to the on-site commercial team

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Commercial Lead / Commercial Manager role on large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g. FIDIC or equivalent)
• Expertise in cost management, contract administration, and commercial risk
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Fluent in English; Portuguese language skills are advantageous
• Willingness to be site-based in Sines, Portugal

Desirable Experience

• Background in energy, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects
• Experience working in international project environments
• Strong leadership and team management capability
