You will join a large international group operating within the retail sector, with a significant footprint in Africa. The organization manages an extensive network of retail locations and is undergoing a strong expansion phase, coupled with a modernization of its technology landscape.
Your new role
As a Tech Lead in Data Integration, you will play a central role in shaping the organization’s data strategy and integration landscape. Acting as the primary technical authority for the development and data integration function, you will lead a small development team, define engineering standards, guide architectural decisions and work closely with business stakeholders to ensure data-driven decision-making.
Your day-to-day will focus on defining robust data models, structuring integration processes between systems, and establishing best practices for ETL frameworks. You will also contribute to prioritizing the application backlog and aligning technical solutions with business needs.
Responsibilities:
• Provide technical leadership to a small development team, defining engineering standards, conducting code reviews and ensuring delivery quality;
• Define and implement data integration strategies across multiple systems;
• Design and optimize data models to support business intelligence and analytics;
• Establish ETL processes and frameworks for efficient data flows;
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business priorities and translate them into technical solutions;
• Participate in regular backlog planning and solution design discussions;
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, including cloud solutions where appropriate;
• Support the evolution of the organization’s data architecture, including migration initiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
• Strong experience with SQL (essential), ideally across different database systems;
• Proven expertise in data modelling and data integration concepts;
• Hands-on or conceptual experience designing ETL processes;
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI;
• Exposure to SAP data environments (e.g. Data Warehouse) is advantageous;
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development workflows;
• Knowledge of PHP/Laravel is advantageous but not mandatory;
• Leadership experience or participation in project coordination roles;
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to challenge and improve existing solutions.
