Elementis is establishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. Your New Role

The Sustainability Specialist is primarily responsible to recommend, define, and apply current and emerging sustainability methodologies and tools, in cooperation with relevant business functions. The role generates the data, insights, and processes that are crucial to ensure informed decisions can be made across the business. There is a focus on processes related to our upstream activities (such as supplier sustainability risks) and downstream activities (such as product sustainability impact). Building on our strong foundation in sustainability, the role is a vital contributor to delivering our sustainability strategy and the fulfilment our purpose of unique chemistry, sustainable solutions. 


As a Sustainability Specialist you will be responsible for:

  • Define and improve sustainability processes that meet assurance requirements and generate high quality data. The processes in scope include (but are not limited to) greenhouse gas emissions, life-cycle analyses, and risk / opportunity assessments;
  • Generate insights from the data processes for use in setting Group strategic priorities, making business decisions, and monitoring progress towards targets. You support the communication of these insights to customers and other internal and external stakeholder;
  • Communicate and work with cross-functional teams to secure proactive engagement and ensure that different perspectives are incorporated into process design and data generation;
  • Identify, coordinate, and work with external consultants and partners, both to execute new projects and conduct established processes;
  • Maintain clearly documented process methods and data handling rules for sustainability processes. You support audits where required, and address findings by updating our internal procedures and practices;
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing project timelines, resources, and budgets to deliver successful outcomes;
  • Curate your sustainability knowledge to remain up to date with current and emerging best practices and regulations. You join webinars and events, monitor industry approaches, and leverage your network. You bring that knowledge into new and improved processes as necessary. You support the education of internal employees on sustainability issues.


What you will need to be succeed

  • Professional sustainability qualifications / certifications;
  • 5 years + relevant experience in Professional Sustainability;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.);
  • Fluency in English - verbal and written.


What the Company can Offer you

This position will have an hybrid regime with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Whilst this role will be based at the Porto Hub, there will be occasions where you may be required to travel to other Elementis sites.
