Senior Key Account Manager, Portugal


Position Overview:

The Senior Key Account Manager will report directly to the Country Manager of Portugal and will be responsible for nurturing and growing our portfolio of key clients. This role is critical in driving Paybyrd's revenue growth and expanding our market presence across the country. The ideal candidate will be skilled in building deep client relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to manage and grow key accounts from our existing client base and identify, work on winning new key clients/retailers.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for an assigned group of top tier client accounts with responsibility for retention and growth.
  • Ensure clients receive superior service and support through cross-functional coordination with marketing, sales support, and product development teams.
  • Understand client needs and identify new business opportunities within assigned accounts.
  • Lead negotiations of contracts and close agreements to maximize profits.
  • Regularly report on account status, including significant changes, feedback, and updates on quarterly forecasts.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, competition, and new opportunities.
  • Participate in client and industry events as a representative of Paybyrd.

Requirements:

  • Proven 5 years plus experience as a Senior Key Account Manager, Key Sales Account Manager or a relevant role in the card or acquiring payment industry, whilst working for financial institutions or Payment Service Provider.
  • Should have a deep understanding of the Portuguese market.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level.
  • Solid experience with CRM software and MS Office (particularly MS Excel).
  • The ideal candidate should have experience working at one of the top 50 merchant acquirers in Europe.
  • Commercially astute, with developed analytical skills and be capable of setting and achieving ambitious sales targets.
  • Sharp and independent, possess excellent commercial, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Experience delivering client-focused solutions to customer needs.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple account management projects at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English.
