The Role: Senior AI Engineer - Generative AI

Location: Lisbon

Work Model: 4 days onsite (first 3 months), then is 3 days a week onsite - Lisbon Oriente

Sector: Financial Services

Languages: English (B2 - C1)

Eligibility: Currently living in Portugal and be legally authorized to work there

Your Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in AI and Machine Learning, with a strong focus on Python
• Proven expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI applications
• Solid experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Strong background in designing and developing scalable backend services and APIs
• Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative team environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts

You'll be working in technologies such as:

• Python
• Generative AI & LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex
• OpenAI / Azure OpenAI / Hugging Face APIs
• Machine Learning & Data such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy
• Model Serving & APIs: FastAPI / Flask, RESTful APIs, async services
• Data Pipelines & Orchestration: Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, or OpenSearch)
• Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch), Docker & Kubernetes, Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• MLOps & Monitoring: Model versioning and experiment tracking (MLflow or equivalent), Logging, monitoring, and performance evaluation
• CI/CD & Collaboration: GitHub / GitLab
• Agile & Delivery: Jira, Confluence, Agile / Scrum methodologies

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, and deliver Generative AI-powered solutions, with a strong focus on Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Build and maintain scalable, reliable AI systems, including data pipelines, backend APIs, and integrations with external services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, operations) to transform ideas into impactful AI-driven solutions
• Experiment with and evaluate new Generative AI technologies to continuously innovate and improve existing systems
• Improve development practices with a strong focus on performance, security, scalability, and maintainability
• Stay up to date with AI trends and actively share knowledge to raise the technical bar across the team
