Overall Job Purpose
The Senior Accountant occupies a critical, hands-on role, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager or Controller. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the company's financial records, adhering to regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in the accounting function.
Competencies
· Financial Reporting: Competence in preparing accurate and timely internal and external financial statements and supporting schedules.
· Internal Controls & Audit: Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (like SOX) and the ability to prepare comprehensive documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
· Advanced Analytical and Problem-Solving: The ability to go beyond number-crunching to investigate variances, detect anomalies, find root causes for discrepancies, and provide actionable financial insights.
· Treasury & Cash Management Linkage: A strong understanding of how accounting activities impact cash flow. This involves working closely with the Treasury function on cash forecasting, managing bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, and optimizing working capital.
· Accounting: Experience or knowledge in handling the accounting complexities related to business combinations, including purchase accounting, integration of acquired entities' financials, and due diligence support.
· Treasury & Cash Management Linkage: A strong understanding of how accounting activities impact cash flow. This involves working closely with the Treasury function on cash forecasting, managing bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, and optimizing working capital.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
· Technical Accounting Mastery: Deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply them to real-world business scenarios.
· ERP Systems Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, advanced functions).
· Analytical Prowess: Excellent analytical skills with high attention to detail for handling complex data sets and finding discrepancies.
· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and effectively guide junior team members.
· Review work prepared by junior accounting staff (e.g., Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Staff Accountants) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Candidate profile
Education and Experience
Minimum 3/4-year experience in similar role in comparable property with sizeable rooms and meeting spaces.
