We are looking for an experienced Portfolio Manager to join the investment team of a growing investment management company, taking a senior role in the origination, evaluation, execution and active management of investments across its funds. This is a hands-on investment position covering the full investment lifecycle, from identifying and assessing new opportunities to transaction execution, portfolio monitoring, value creation and exit.

Description

• Source, screen and assess new investment opportunities;
• Lead detailed financial, commercial and strategic analysis of prospective investments;
• Lead due diligence workstreams and coordinate external advisers;
• Develop robust investment theses and appropriate transaction structures;
• Lead the preparation and presentation of Investment Committee proposals;
• Participate in the negotiation of transaction terms alongside management, Board members and advisers;
• Coordinate transaction execution from initial assessment through signing and completion;
• Actively monitor portfolio companies and overall investment performance;
• Monitor financial performance, liquidity, budgets, KPIs and key strategic milestones;
• Identify areas of underperformance and recommend appropriate corrective actions;
• Participate in portfolio-company governance when appropriate;
• Develop exit strategies and lead the relevant analysis and execution;
• Contribute to portfolio construction and allocation discussions;
• Supervise and support the development of junior members of the investment team.

Profile

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Management, Engineering or a related field;
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in Private Equity, Venture Capital, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Corporate Finance or another investment-related environment;
• Demonstrable experience executing M&A or investment transactions;
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and deal structuring capabilities;
• Previous experience actively managing portfolio companies or investments will be highly valued;
• Strong understanding of financial statements, investment analysis and corporate finance;
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to assess investment opportunities from both a financial and strategic perspective;
• Confidence interacting with senior management teams, shareholders and external advisers;
• Leadership capabilities and previous experience supervising or developing junior professionals;
• High degree of autonomy, ownership and professional judgement;
• Professional proficiency in Portuguese and English is mandatory.
