Role Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the mechanical package across the project lifecycle, including contractor design, procurement, pre-construction, mobilisation, construction, and handover

  • Review and comment on design information alongside the engineering team to ensure systems are buildable, commissionable, and compliant with project and end-user requirements
  • Identify opportunities for design optimisation, prefabrication, and value engineering in collaboration with consultants and contractors
  • Support early project development activities including site feasibility, permitting considerations, and risk identification
  • Collaborate with the project leadership team to define and implement the procurement strategy for mechanical systems and equipment packages
  • Evaluate and manage general contractor and subcontractor tender submissions for mechanical packages
  • Oversee contractor performance including method statements, risk assessments, scheduling, and delivery milestones

  • Conduct regular health and safety inspections and audits across mechanical installation works
  • Support quality assurance processes and ensure mechanical systems are installed and delivered in line with project standards
  • Coordinate closely with internal and external commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for testing, commissioning, and handover
  • Ensure all works are completed defect-free, including proper documentation, snagging resolution, and final handover deliverables
  • Contribute to project risk management, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the data centre delivery programme

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience delivering mechanical packages on complex construction projects, ideally within data centre or mission-critical environments
  • Experience working for a general contractor, developer, or client-side delivery team on large-scale projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water infrastructure, cooling systems, and mechanical plant within data centre facilities
  • Experience managing contractors, procurement processes, and mechanical package delivery through construction and commissioning stages
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high safety and quality standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • Relevant health and safety training for construction management roles
