Position Summary:



The Manager of Technical Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the technical integrity, reliability, and compliance of the river cruise fleet. This position serves as the Company's representative with oversight of all aspects of engineering and maintenance, including planned maintenance programs, drydock planning, and technical support for shipboard teams.



The Manager works with Management Company to ensure adherence to European inland navigation technical standards (ES-TRIN), CCNR and Danube Commission regulations, ADN (where applicable), and EU Directive 2016/1629. The role also ensures compliance with classification society requirements (e.g., DNV, Lloyd's Register) and ISO standards.



Additionally, the Manager will represent the company (as appropriate) in CESNI technical working groups, classification society audits, and industry associations such as IG River Cruise, European Barge Union (EBU), and Inland Navigation Europe (INE) to influence technical policy and sustainability initiatives.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Manage technical operations including maintenance schedules, drydock planning, winter period planning, and repair projects.

* Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and technical regulations.

* Coordinate with shipboard engineers and vendors for repairs, upgrades, and inspections.

* Monitor vessel performance and implement technical improvements.

* Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and consumables.

* Support emergency response and contingency planning for technical failures.

* Develop and maintain technical SOPs, documentation, and compliance records.

* Lead technical audits and inspections to ensure operational readiness.

* Drive sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across the fleet.

* Ensure compliance with ES-TRIN technical requirements, CCNR and Danube Commission rules, ADN, and EU inland navigation directives.

* Liaise with classification societies for vessel certification and technical inspections.

* Represent the company in CESNI technical committees and relevant industry forums.

* Maintain technical documentation to meet ISO and ISM standards.

* Drive sustainability initiatives aligned with EU Green Deal and inland navigation decarbonization goals.



Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

* Degree in Marine Engineering or related field.

* Minimum 8 years of experience in technical operations/ship engineering, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

* Familiarity with European river cruise vessel systems and regulatory requirements.

* Experience in technical project management and drydock planning.

* Valid engineering certifications and safety training.

* Strong technical knowledge of vessel systems, maintenance practices, and engineering standards.

* Proficiency in planned maintenance systems, engineering software, and reporting tools.

* Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders under tight deadlines.

* Strong communication and vendor negotiation skills.

* Expert knowledge of ES-TRIN standards, CCNR and Danube Commission technical regulations, ADN, and EU Directive 2016/1629.

* Familiarity with classification society rules and ISO standards for maintenance and safety.

* Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability technologies for inland vessels.
