Junior Associate, Operations Team

Location: Lisbon

Reports to: Partners + CFO/COO

Type: Full-time

Level: Junior Associate (2-3 years experience)

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, analytical Junior Associate to support the Partners and the COO/CFO of a leading Portuguese private equity firm. This role focuses on helping portfolio companies improve financial performance through better visibility, control, and strategic decision-making, while also supporting investor reporting and fund operations.

Portfolio Support & Monitoring

- Support the execution of value creation initiatives (e.g., budgeting, pricing, cost review, M&A bolt-ons)

- Conduct ad hoc research on portfolio operations, markets, and benchmarking

- Track and consolidate financial KPIs across portfolio companies

- Assist in preparing board materials and internal dashboards

Investor reporting and fund operations

- Prepare quarterly investor reports and data packs (performance metrics, capital activity, commentary)

- Assist with fund cash flow planning, capital calls, and distributions

- Liaise with external fund administrators, accountants, auditors, and custodians

Required Qualifications

- 1-3 years experience in FP&A, audit, transaction services, or financial consulting

- Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Industrial Engineering

- Strong analytical and Excel modeling skills; knowledge of Power BI or similar tools a plus

- Fluent in English; Spanish or Portuguese highly valued

- Strong communication skills and a hands-on, ownership-driven mentality

Preferred Attributes

- Experience supporting or auditing SMEs or family-owned businesses

- Familiarity with PE-backed environments and exposure to board-level reporting

- High attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to work independently

- Interest in operational finance, value creation, and continuous improvement
