Your new role
As a GL & AP Accountant, you will play a key role within the Shared Service Centre, supporting the International Business Unit with a focus on Canadian and Portuguese operations. You will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to efficient financial operations. Your essential functions will be:
General Ledger:
Own and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger
Prepare, review, and post both routine and non-routine journal entries
Validate supporting documentation and resolve discrepancies proactively
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
Execute month-end and year-end closing activities in line with deadlines
Support financial reporting and provide documentation for audits
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and completeness
Accounts Payable:
Manage the end-to-end AP cycle, from invoice processing to payment and reconciliation
Process vendor invoices and execute weekly payment runs
Handle vendor inquiries and maintain strong vendor relationships
Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies
Maintain accurate records and monitor payment status
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
Work closely with finance, AP, AR, and other internal stakeholders
Support process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and controls
What you need to be successful
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
Minimum 2+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting (AP experience is a plus)
Fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus)
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Ability to work collaboratively in an international and fast-paced environment
Flexibility during month-end closing periods
