Our client is a multinational company within the Industrial sector working on the development of its Financial Shared Service Centre.

Leading the General Ledger (GL) team in the Shared Service Centre (SSC).

Description

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of General Ledger (GL) accountants, including the review of work performed by the team;
  • Set clear goals and objectives, provide direction and conduct performance reviews, always ensuring adequate and timely communication;
  • Development of team and individuals: identify training needs, development and improvement opportunities, and provide coaching/mentoring;
  • Supervise and ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information, to internal or external parties, including group accounting, auditors and authorities (e.g. tax authorities);
  • Create and monitor closing calendars;
  • Open / close accounting periods;
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external accounting standards, laws and regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Ensure the team follows the Finance Organisation's policies and rules, including travel and expenses;
  • Ensure a proper documentation of work procedures is kept up to date, namely, in accordance with Standard Process Model;
  • Ensure Internal Controls are working effectively;
  • Prepare and support annual and interim audits in close cooperation with other departments and auditors;
  • Prepare and support ad-hoc requests from external or internal customers in close cooperation with other departments (e.g. tax inspections);
  • Coordinate or execute projects related to accounting and reporting;
  • Management of working hours, attendance and holiday planning, including public holiday (customer and local);
  • Identify and execute efficiency improvements.

Profile

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance or similar field;
  • 6+ years of professional experience in finance and accounting or equivalent;
  • 2+ years of leading team experience;
  • Experience within a Shared Service Centre environment and transition;
  • Professional working proficiency in English and/or another European language(German, French, Polish and Dutch preferred);
  • CA or CPA degree preferred;
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office, namely, advanced MS Excel knowledge;
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards in one of the following GAAPs:Portugal, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland or Poland;
  • Profound knowledge in internal controls and ideally SOX compliance;
  • Project planning and project management skills;
  • Costumer Focus: internal & external clients, excellent service oriented mindset;
  • Lead by example, motivate, empower and manage the team;
  • Persuasiveness and negotiation skills.
