Full-Stack Developer - Ruby on Rails

Location: Hybrid - Coimbra

Ovyo is an professional services company specializing in the satellite, telecommunications, media, and broadcasting, transportation and many more sectors. Our management team is located in the UK and Portugal and we have technical teams based across other European countries and India.

We are currently actively looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join one of our teams our in Coimbra. Here you will work on developing and maintaining our core product using modern web technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Backend & Frontend Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails, ViewComponents, Turbo, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Database & Caching: Optimize database schemas and queries with PostgreSQL and manage caching layers using Redis for performance and efficiency.
• Testing & Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code with robust automated tests, participate in code reviews, and ensure alignment with product requirements.
• Collaboration & Delivery: Work closely with product and design teams to deliver high-quality, user-focused features from concept to deployment.
• Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development with strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, modern JavaScript frameworks, and relational databases.
• Skilled in designing scalable system architectures, optimizing web performance, and building component-based UI with ViewComponents and Hotwire (Turbo & Stimulus).
• Experienced in developing and integrating RESTful APIs, using caching technologies like Redis, and optimizing database queries for performance.
• Proficient in automated testing practices (e.g., RSpec) and version control systems like Git to ensure code quality and stability.
• Comfortable working in agile environments, adapting quickly to changing priorities, and taking initiative in a collaborative and fast-paced setting.
