The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) is the international organisation that represents the wind energy industry, one of the world's fast growing and relevant industrial sectors. GWEC advocates for wind as a key solution for achieving energy security, reducing global carbon emissions and creating investment and skilled jobs around the world.


GWEC acts as the voice of the global wind sector, communicating and educating, and working with governments around the world to achieve optimal policy environments for the deployment of wind industry. We engage with leading international institutions and forums, including the United Nations, IEA, IRENA, WTO, the World Bank and many others, hold several leading industry events and conferences, and produce sector shaping policy reports and data that is used by policy makers across the world.


GWEC is based in our Lisbon HQ, with offices in the UK, Brazil, India, China, Singapore, Kenya, the Philippines and Vietnam and a global staff of around 70. As wind energy continues to grow to help achieve the Tripling of Renewables by 2030, we have bold growth plans as we seek to urgently accelerate implementation of wind in new and existing markets.

Reports to: GWEC CEO


Overall purpose:


We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Executive Assistant (EA) to provide comprehensive support to GWEC's CEO. This role combines traditional executive support with strategic policy assistance, ensuring that the CEO is fully supported in both operational activities and in preparation of content and research for his busy agenda. The EA will play a key role in facilitating communication, managing schedules, and supporting the CEO's involvement in global renewable energy forums.


Executive Support

  • Manage the CEO's complex calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements to align with global engagements (in conjunction with GWEC travel coordinator)
  • Manage correspondence, draft presentations, ensuring alignment with GWEC's strategic goals.
  • Coordinate CEO contributions to reports, document review and other content activities
  • Prepare briefings and materials ahead of meetings, calls, and events.
  • Perform any other duties as required to support the CEO and GWEC's executive priorities.

Policy Support

  • Assist in research and preparation of briefing notes, reports, and policy documents related to global renewable energy initiatives.
  • Track developments in renewable energy policy and regulations relevant to GWEC's mission, particularly in the context of international forums such as COPs and APAC or other international forums.
  • Support CEO preparing materials for high-level meetings with policymakers, governments, and industry stakeholders, ensuring alignment with GWEC's strategic goals.
  • Support project coordination and follow-up on key initiatives, particularly those related to GWEC's strategic goals.
  • Draft concise summaries and key messages for internal and external communication, particularly in relation to GWEC's initiatives and positions.


Essential Person Criteria:


  • University Degree (BA)
  • Proven experience as a EA or Personal Assistant, preferably supporting senior executives in the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong interest or experience in renewable energy policy
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proactive and flexible
  • Competency in Microsoft Office and meeting tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
  • Fluency in English; additional languages (Portuguese, Spanish, French, Chinese) are an advantage.


Desirable Person Criteria:

  • Fast-paced, international environment with frequent cross-time-zone coordination.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, and GWEC events.
