We are now looking for a Senior Data Engineer/Architect willing to accept new challenges in our Closer team.

For this position you need to have residency in Portugal.

Location: Remote (2 weeks onsite in the UK initially, then remote with occasional UK visits)

Language Requirement: English (C1 level or higher)

Key Responsibilities:

Data Architecture & Infrastructure:

• Develop and implement a modular, scalable data architecture on AWS.
• Design, deploy, and maintain data warehouses capable of handling large-scale, multi-source data.

Pipeline Development & Optimization:

• Build scalable, high-performance data pipelines (batch & real-time) using distributed computing and cloud technologies.
• Automate ETL/ELT processes for efficient data processing.

Data Integration & Quality:

• Ensure seamless integration of diverse data sources while maintaining pipeline reliability.
• Implement data quality checks, cleansing, and validation to ensure accuracy.

Cloud & Big Data Expertise:

• Leverage AWS services (preferred), Snowflake, BigQuery, or Firebolt for optimal data storage and processing.
• Utilize big data tools (Hadoop, Kafka, Spark) and ML frameworks (TensorFlow) for advanced analytics.

Governance, Security & Cost Efficiency:

• Enforce data governance, security policies, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Optimize infrastructure to minimize costs while maintaining performance.

API Development & Accessibility:

• Deliver data APIs to enable easy access for non-technical teams.

Innovation & Future-Readiness:

• Stay ahead of emerging data trends and recommend improvements.

Required Skills & Experience:

Core Engineering:

• Strong background in data/ML engineering with proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or C#.
• Expertise in SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB).

Cloud & Big Data:

• Hands-on experience with AWS (preferred), Snowflake, BigQuery, or Firebolt.
• Familiarity with Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, and TensorFlow.

ETL/ELT & BI Tools:

• Proven experience in ETL/ELT development and tools.
• Knowledge of BI platforms (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
