Elementis is establishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. They offer exciting roles in IT, Research & Development, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, Regulatory/Product Stewardship, Sales & Marketing, providing a diverse range of opportunities to grow and make an impact. Most of the roles are regional or global.

The Vice President IT, Data and Digital role is responsible for developing and executing IT, data and digital strategies and roadmaps that support Elementis in achieving its Strategy. The role ensures that IT and data initiatives are aligned with key business objectives and provides leadership and direction to ensure that the outcomes promised are delivered. The VP IT, Data and Digital engages and leads a global team to ensure development, motivation and capability building, necessary to deliver the strategy. The role partners with the Elementis leadership team in delivery of the strategy and operations and will engage with the plc board in relation to relevant agenda items.

 

Your new role

1. Strategy, Planning & Communication 

• In collaboration with Elementis senior leadership, you integrate digital technology into the overall business strategy. You develop and implement the IT strategy in alignment with Elementis’ objectives and you ensure that business needs are prioritized to produce a multi-year roadmap. 

• You are the senior IT, Data and Digital point of contact and lead functional communications and engagement with the rest of Elementis, Elementis’s Board and key strategic vendors. 

• You develop and manage strategic partnerships to supplement your internal team with capacity and capabilities ensuring the external parties contribute to an optimized delivery and cost structure. 

 

2. IT Functional Leadership  

• You provide strategic and operational direction to your team, supporting and guiding key decision-making. 

• You are accountable for Information Security, Information Governance, Applications and IT Operations managing key risks and mitigations, minimizing single points of failure and ensuring best practice across the function globally. 

 

3. Data & Digital and Innovation  

• You lead on Elementis’ Data strategy developing and driving the digital and data strategy supporting the development of a multi-year data and digital roadmap. 

• You are familiar with and embrace next-generation technology, including AI, that can enhance scalability, agility and efficiency in IT operations and data management.  

• You lead digital transformation initiatives and data management across Elementis globally. 

 

4. Budget and prioritization 

• You are  the sponsor of key IT projects, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of IT projects that are both on time and on budget, whilst overseeing major risk mitigation  

 

5. Team Development and Leadership 

• You provide strong leadership to the diverse and global IT and data teams, and foster a culture of collaboration and high-performance, building team effectiveness and engagement. 

What you'll need to succeed

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar degree or professional qualification is required. Masters degree is a bonus. 

• Experience: 10+ Years of experience in a senior leadership role across IT, Data and Digital with demonstratable experience in managing related teams across a global and multi-location context. Proven experience in driving IT or data and digital transformations in a global environment. 

• IT Skills: Extensive competence in Microsoft suite, and Cloud-based infrastructure. Knowledge of ServiceNow, SolarWinds. Familiarity with JDE Edwards and Workday. 

• Language Skills: Verbal and written fluency in English, other European languages are a plus. 

• Working arrangements: 3 days in the office as per the hybrid working policy. 

• Traveling required: This role will be required to travel as per the needs of the business and where necessary to interact in person with leaders of the business.

Plan and align: you are confident and capable in planning, delivering and aligning key projects and initiatives, enabling you to allocate resources, ensure research activities are synchronized with project timelines, execute projects with precision, maximize productivity and achieve the desired outcomes.
