Elementis is establishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. They offer exciting roles in Research & Development, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, Regulatory/Product Stewardship, Sales & Marketing, providing a diverse range of opportunities to grow and make an impact. Most of the roles are regional or global.

 

The Senior Applications Specialist manages all business systems across Elementis excluding JD Edwards. These systems and applications are fundamental in enabling the Elementis’s operations and operational efficiencies. At the moment, the applications in scope include SalesForce, Smartsheet, Finario, Velocity, among others.
This role is also a critical driver of business applications strategy and technology performance, taking ownership of the applications by eliciting, analysing and validating the business needs and defining the system requirements to meet those objectives.

Your new role:

Business Analysis
  • Through your understanding of Elementis core business processes, you provide guidance on selection, optimisation, and interface of applications.
  • You manage the partnership between the internal customer community and the external development specialists, or 3rd parties providing the IT service, by prioritizing key user requirements to meet demand and optimally integrate within the Elementis application architecture.
     You elicit these business requirements working with relevant developers and super users.
  • You hold developers to account, ensuring high quality outcomes and contribution to the business
  • You identify and recommend improvements to existing processes based on industry best practices and current technology trends.

Solution Architecture and Design
  • You collaborate with developers (which can be 3rd parties) and other subject matter experts to establish the technical vision, architecture and development programme that meets business requirements.
  • You analyse the trade-offs between the usability and technical performance needs of the different technical options to deliver the user requirements. You agree the proposed solution in partnership with business owners.
  • You ensure key applications are implemented and used in a manner that adheres to Elementis security policies.

Solution Delivery, Testing and Training
  • You successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
     These include taking ownership/leadership of distinct system projects, supporting developers in managing their projects, ensuring documentation is current and delivering the solution designed.

  • You manage the relationships with the suppliers for the applications including managing licenses, roadmaps, upgrades, deployment of new modules or features, and bug resolution, if needed.
  • You manage the external contractors or 3rd parties engaged by Elementis to support these applications.
  • Where super users and business owners are present and equipped, you partner with them to deliver training and reporting.
  • You are the IT owner/administrator for these applications, overseeing user access and licenses, access permissions, defining application roadmap, modules, interface management, data definitions.

Best practice and compliance:
  • You ensure applications are managed according to good practice and applicable regulations.
  • You keep up to date with the latest IT trends, developments, and best practices.
  • You ensure data is handled, transferred, or processed according to secure, legal and company guidelines.

What you'll need to succeed:

Education:
 Computer science, Information Systems or similar degree / professional qualification would be an advantage.
Experience: 5+ Years of experience in an IT Applications Specialist / Senior Analyst role or similar managerial role with demonstrable experience on IT service and applications administration.
IT Skills: Excellence in Microsoft products. Familiarity with release deployment, testing, and service management tools would be an advantage. Experience in deployment and configuration of any of the systems / applications used by Elementis mentioned above would be an advantage.
Language Skills: Verbal and written fluency in English. Competency in other languages, including Portuguese, is preferred but not a must.
Working arrangements: Minimum 3 days per week in the Porto office.
Traveling required: Occasional travel to other Elementis sites as required.

This position will have a hybrid regime with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Whilst this role will be based at the Porto Hub, there will be occasions where you may be required to travel to other Elementis sites.
