Elementis is establishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. They offer exciting roles in Research & Development, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, Regulatory/Product Stewardship, Sales & Marketing, providing a diverse range of opportunities to grow and make an impact. Most of the roles are regional or global.

 

The Business Analyst provides cross-department advisory and support services particularly around business engagement and demand analysis. This leads to improving the productivity, efficiency, and profitability of Elementis by facilitating the process of finding and designing IT solutions that meet business needs. This person provides expert IT insight to business teams who are exploring and developing a hypothesis that could lead to an IT requirement. The role is critical to developing business ideas and needs into proposals which are sized and assessed for IT delivery.

 

Your new role:

 

  • Project Pipeline & Roadmap 
    • You support the Programme Manager working with the business to assemble a 6-month project pipeline of demand. The 6-month pipeline enables tactical delivery. 
    • To undertake this responsibility, you elicit and document needs and requirements from the business; develop the high-level hypothesis on the solution needed to meet the business needs so that the effort and time to deliver is understood.; support projects to be prioritized, resources efficiently sourced and budgets to be planned/managed.  
  •  Business analysis 
    • You gather and document requirements for new or existing IT projects. 
    • You analyze and validate requirements to ensure they are clear, consistent, and aligned with the business goals. 
    • You collaborate with stakeholders and developers to ensure the different technical solutions are evaluated and meet the business needs. 
    • You collaborate with stakeholders, developers, testers, and other IT staff to deliver IT solutions that meet the requirements, including analyzing elements of system design, such as wireframes, business rules, data migration rules, etc. 
    • You develop and deliver training materials and user manuals for IT solutions for both the technical IT teams and the business users. 
    • You facilitate communication and feedback between the business and IT teams. 
    • You provide support and troubleshooting for the IT solutions. 
  • Commercial management
    • The Business Analyst uses his/her commercial, supplier and licensing knowledge and range of business partnerships to process invoices and purchase orders for the IT department with the key decisions being made by the budget holders (IT Director and direct reports). 
    • Oversee the spend landscape of the department, identifying anomalies and allocating to cost areas. 
  • Project Management
    • You will manage small projects as needed. Those that do not meet the project lifecycle or rapid and regular delivery are the highest priority.
  • Risk and controls
    • You evaluate project risks and mitigations through project risk log disciplines. 
    • You ensure that project delivery and data environments are managed as per the recommendations and advice of the security manager. 
    • Support audits and control process documentation. 
  • Best practice 
    • You lead IT change control process at Elementis. 
    • You keep up to date with the latest IT trends, developments, and best practices, and ensure that the IT project management methods are aligned with Elementis’ goals and strategies. 
    • You maintain logs, documentation and reports of activity.


What you'll need to succeed:

 

  • Education: Computer science, Information Systems or similar degree or professional qualification would be an advantage. Business analysis professional qualification would be a significant advantage. 

 

  • Experience: 5+ Years of experience as a business analyst in IT delivery context, covering needs and requirements documentation, IT delivery team support and testing. You can demonstrate the development and delivery of training materials. You have experience of managing small and simple projects. 

 

  • International experience, dealing with colleagues in an international context. 

 

  • IT Skills: Extensive competence in standard business analysis and change management.   Elementis’ core systems are Microsoft infrastructure and collaboration tools, JD Edwards ERP, ServiceNow and Workday. You will be proficient with business analysis tools. 

 

  • Language Skills: Verbal and written fluency in English.  

 

  • Working arrangements: Minimum 3 days a week in the office 

 

  • Traveling required: Occasional travel to other Elementis sites as required.

 

 


This position will have a hybrid regime with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Whilst this role will be based at the Porto Hub, there will be occasions where you may be required to travel to other Elementis sites.
