Build Infrastructure at Serious Scale

At YTEC, we are building a large-scale MQTT hosting platform designed to handle massive IoT workloads with extreme reliability, performance, and availability.

We are looking for a senior-to-staff level engineer who thrives at the intersection of infrastructure, distributed systems, and software engineering.

This is not a pure coding role and not a traditional DevOps position. You will be a technical owner, deeply involved in architecture, scaling decisions, performance optimization, and infrastructure design.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Design, build, and scale a production-grade IoT/MQTT platform used at large scale.

• Architect and operate high-availability cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent)
• Design scalable load balancing, routing, clustering, and failover strategies
• Work hands-on with time-series databases (InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) and SQL systems
• Optimize high-throughput data ingestion and querying pipelines
• Develop and maintain robust backend services supporting MQTT workloads
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance and reliability issues
• Make key architecture and technology decisions with long-term impact
• Collaborate with senior engineers, DevOps, and system administrators

What We're Looking For

This role is aimed at experienced, senior engineers who have built and operated systems at scale.

Must-haves:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering and infrastructure
• Strong Linux expertise (production-level)
• Deep experience with AWS (or similar cloud platforms)
• Containerization expertise (Docker, orchestration experience a big plus)
• Proven experience with time-series databases at scale
• Hands-on experience with MQTT-based IoT systems
• Strong programming skills in Python, Bash, PHP, or similar
• Solid understanding of: Networking & TCP/IP, Load balancing & high availability. Distributed systems & fault tolerance
• Track record of troubleshooting complex, high-scale systems
