The Senior Hardware Engineer - Unit Lead will lead a team of engineers focused on developing robust, compact, and efficient control electronics for Brushless DC motor applications. Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 7 hardware engineers working on BLDC motor control systems.
- Lead the Design and develop analog and digital hardware for embedded motion control, including power stages, DC/DC converters, gate drivers, and sensor interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, mechanical, and systems engineering) to ensure seamless integration and alignment on specifications.
- Support safety and reliability engineering activities, including FMEA, FMEDA, and Fault Tree Analysis, ensuring compliance with applicable functional safety standards such as ISO 26262, ISO 13849, and IEC 61508, with a focus on systems involving motion control and power electronics.
- Contribute to design reviews, technical documentation, and mentorship of junior engineers as part of a collaborative product development environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team lead role.
- Strong knowledge of analog/power/mixed-signal circuit design.
- Experience in ECAD tools (preferably Altium) and SPICE simulation tools.
- Experience with PCB layout, signal and power integrity considerations, and hardware bring-up.
- Solid understanding of EMC design practices, thermal management, and rugged embedded systems.
- Experience with IPC standards and working knowledge of manufacturing processes for PCB fabrication and assembly.
- Knowledge of functional safety and experience with ASIL ratings preferred
- Knowledge of gear motors, electric motors, and drives is a plus
- Experience performing circuit simulations using SPICE-based tools and validating hardware performance through hands-on lab testing and debugging would be a plus.
- Experience in BLDC motors and control algorithms would be a plus.
