Your new company:

Kantar have an exciting role for an enthusiastic, organised and commercially-oriented paralegal. The successful candidate will primarily support the Commercial Legal team and provide transactional support to the Kantar business, including reviewing and drafting contracts using templates, playbooks and policies, liaising with and providing guidance to stakeholders in Kantar divisions and functions, and supporting the strategic initiatives of the in-house legal function, including knowhow, process improvement and technology implementation. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of a fast growing in-house legal function aligned to creating value add for Kantar and which is focused on the growth and development of its team members. The ideal candidate for this role will develop a thorough understanding of Kantar’s multifaceted business in market research and data insights. This role would suit an experienced paralegal, or a recent graduate seeking to begin their career in the in-house legal team of a global business.

Your new role:

  • Manage the Porto legal team and work flow to provide efficient, timely and effective legal advice to the Kantar business in conjunction with regional legal teams

  • Provide training, mentoring and supervision to team members

  • Provide proactive support to draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements using legal knowhow, and analyzing legal and commercial risks to craft appropriate legal solutions

  • Support the team’s purposeful collaboration with stakeholders in the business and legal team including subject matter experts, escalating as required and applying applicable governance processes

  • Use of data and metrics to support reporting for the Porto legal operation and trend analysis

  • Collaborate with the Global Legal teams on continuous improvement initiatives, and continually evolving the Porto Legal operation to deliver continuous improvement

  • Develop and refine Legal team knowhow including template agreements, playbooks, policies and training to address the evolving needs of a growing and changing business

  • Build trusting relationships with stakeholders and clients and able to influence senior leadership

  • Operate in alignment with Kantar’s business principles

What you'll need to succeed:

  • At least 8 years’ experience working at top law firm and in-house legal department focused on commercial matters.

  • Experience in team management and project management

  • Fluent in English

  • Member of the legal profession in the UK, US or Portugal

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Outstanding business acumen and ability to advise on business-related legal issues.

  • Experienced in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts; strong working background in client and/or supplier agreements

  • Data protection and/or intellectual property experience in relation to commercial contracts would be desirable

  • Application and development of legal knowhow to achieve commercially desirable outcomes. Proactively develop tools and knowhow to support knowledge dissemination and application.

  • Able to work effectively across regions, cultures and time zones

  • The ability to lead, manage and develop teams, organise workloads and competing priorities, with the wisdom and gravitas to balance conflicting stakeholder interests

  • An independent and strategic thinker who is a strong team player engaging in purposeful collaboration with legal team members and clients(no job is too small or too large)

  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced and evolving business
