The Specialty Minerals (SMI) segment produces and sells the synthetic mineral product precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), mines mineral ores and processes and sells natural mineral products, primarily limestone and talc. This segment's products are used principally in the paper, building materials, paint and coatings, glass, ceramic, polymer, food, automotive and pharmaceutical industries.


Role Description


We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Regional Sales Manager to join our Paper & Packaging business, supporting growth across the EMEA region. This role is primarily home office based and includes regular travel to customer sites and manufacturing locations. The ideal candidate will be located in Portugal, France, or another EMEA country where we operate.


The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing sales strategies across designated regions and accounts. This includes managing sales and contracts, driving new business development, developing existing accounts, and ensuring budget achievement. The role requires strong leadership, entrepreneurship, customer relationship management, negotiations skills, and strategic planning to support corporate account activities and achieve growth targets.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage key accounts, contracts, and strategic customer relationships

Develop and execute regional sales plans aligned with business goals

Drive new business through merchant sales, new plants, and new technologies

Monitor sales performance, budgets, and market competitiveness

Collaborate with Key Account Managers, other Sales Managers, R&D, Supply Chain, and Operations to support customer needs.

Build and maintain high level customer and industry relationships

Represent the company at industry events and trade associations

Oversee pricing updates, reporting cycles, and annual reconciliations

Lead sales training programs and support team development

Promote continuous improvement and Lean practices (5S, PDCA, Kaizen, TPM)


Qualifications

Degree in a scientific field (Paper Technology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering preferred); MBA a plus

5+ years in sales, including 3+ years in sales management

Experience in Lean Manufacturing and a strong record of commercial results

Strong analytical, negotiation, financial, and problem solving skills

Skilled in value selling with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Proven leadership and change management capability

Willing to travel up to 50%

Proficient with PC tools and data analysis

  • Fluent in English; French or Portuguese beneficial
