Job Summary
The Principal Cloud & Security Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to being a key leader in ensuring the resilience, scalability, and security of Allia Health Group's technology infrastructure. This role will drive enterprise cloud architecture, establish security engineering standards, and lead critical initiatives to safeguard data and systems. The position combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring senior engineers and shaping organizational best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise-wide cloud security and infrastructure engineering projects.
- Architect secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions with a focus on Google Cloud (GCP).
- Establish and enforce security engineering standards, including IAM, encryption, and network security.
- Drive adoption of DevSecOps practices and automated security controls within CI/CD pipelines.
- Mentor senior engineers and support the professional growth of the Cloud & Security Ops team.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to align infrastructure with business priorities.
- Lead incident response and remediation for high-severity security issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
Qualifications
Required
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, or a related field.
- 7-10 years in cloud and security engineering roles.
- Expert-level knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable).
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration security.
- Proven experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalents).
- Deep knowledge of identity and access management, encryption, and secure networking.
- Experience implementing security automation, monitoring, and incident response workflows.
- Strong background in CI/CD pipelines with integrated security controls.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.
Preferred
- Experience with Google Cloud, Looker, Vertex AI, UiPath, N8N, CI/CD with GitHub & Google Cloud, React, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and other role-adjacent tools.
- Candidates with AWS experience are welcome but Google Cloud is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Working in Madeira in a shared office space, remote in Portugal, or remote in a Portuguese time zone-friendly location.
- Flexibility to shift portions of the day to increase time zone overlap with US CST time zone.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, such as typing.
