Reporting hierarchically and functionally to the General Manager, the role involves supporting, contributing to, promoting, and implementing the company's initiatives and following the execution of the AMERICOLD strategy. The individual will be responsible for the daily management of the production and distribution chain at the site.
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, direct, and optimize available resources (responsible for daily management: staff, material handling equipment, cold storage occupancy, order distribution, merchandise documentation, etc.).
- Ensure staffing for these roles for training, guidance, motivation, evaluation, and follow-up purposes.
- Supervise activities and staff under their charge, ensuring compliance with company regulations and work instructions.
- Responsible for order, cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in the cold storage warehouse, handling areas, and facilities.
- Define and oversee workers' activities carried out in the warehouse.
- Authorize workers to use machinery and work equipment.
- Verify that work areas and conditions are appropriate to ensure operations are conducted safely, without worker safety risks.
- With prior company authorization and training, operate production machinery and/or drive vehicles.
- Ensure workers have the necessary training to perform the duties of each role under their responsibility.
- Ensure control and monitoring of control points and prerequisite programs (PC, PCC, PPR for chamber temperature, prerequisite programs).
- Oversee product movements to and from temperature-controlled chambers.
- Manage the operation of refrigerators/freezers and temperature-controlled zones.
- Responsible for documentation related to merchandise.
- Ensure operational interactions with clients.
- Refuse to receive merchandise if it is not in good condition or at the appropriate temperature.
- Promote a positive spirit and work environment by maintaining close working relationships with other departments, promoting proactivity, communication, and unity, while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, workflows, and requirements, and respecting the company's ethical code.
- Ensure workers receive the necessary training to perform the duties of each role under their responsibility.
- Ensure work areas and conditions are appropriate for safe operations, without worker safety risks.
- Comply with regulations, legislation, and internal procedures for food safety, quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental standards, and supervise compliance by workers under their charge and subcontracted companies. Report any detected non-compliance.
Requirements
- Higher Vocational Training (CFGS), Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience. (essential)
- Previous experience as operations manager in a similar business (essential)
- Leadership skills and flexibility.
- Knowledge and skills in working with automated systems.
- Ability to oversee operational planning of the supply chain.
- Specific training in Food Defense and Food Safety.
- Training in HACCP and control point management.
- Training in good environmental practices.
- Occupational risk prevention training relevant to the role.
- Excellent management, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Practical, flexible, proactive, and dynamic mindset, promoting a positive attitude in all tasks.
- Alignment and identification with the company's values.
- Committed and goal-oriented individual, both for general and individual objectives (see MBO).
