Your New Role
As a Modern Workplace Engineer, you will be part of the IT Services infrastructure team, responsible for delivering and maintaining the technology that supports the company's operations. You will act as a primary technical contact, coordinating with stakeholders and utilising your expertise in modern workplace technologies to automate provisioning, testing, and deployment of infrastructure.
Responsibilities

Serve as the main technical contact for key areas, coordinating with stakeholders and using strong system administration and troubleshooting skills.

Utilise expertise in modern workplace technologies, including Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365, to automate infrastructure provisioning, testing, and deployment.

Contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of IT initiatives.

Produce and maintain system and infrastructure designs, policies, and documentation.

Provide reports and proposals for improvements to colleagues and stakeholders.

Offer advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools, driving IT Services towards a code-centric model for managing infrastructure.

Act as a support escalation point for the 3rd line infrastructure support provider.

Proactively manage IT infrastructure to minimise business disruption and identify initiatives to improve the quality and effectiveness of infrastructure services.

Manage and provide 3rd line advice for infrastructure platforms in accordance with agreed service levels, standards, and processes.
Requirements

Expertise in modern workplace technologies and ecosystems, such as Microsoft 365.

Proficiency in operating systems like Windows 10/11.

Experience with client applications like Office 365, Teams, and OneDrive.

Knowledge of device management and deployment tools like Intune and Autopilot.

Understanding of virtualisation techniques, such as VMware vSphere.

Familiarity with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, including Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Azure Virtual Desktop, and W365.

Knowledge of security best practices, including patching and conditional access.

Strong system administration and troubleshooting skills.
-
Ability to create and contribute to high-level and low-level designs.

Experience working within an Agile environment.

Appreciation of DevOps principles.

Scripting and automation skills, particularly with PowerShell.

Experience in packaging and delivering applications.

Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft 365, are advantageous.
