The Role: Java Developer (Java & AWS engineering team)
Location: Lisbon
Work Model: 4 days in the office (first 3 months), then is 3 days a week onsite - Lisbon Oriente
Sector: Financial Services
? Languages: English (B2 - C1)
Eligibility: Currently living in Portugal and be legally authorized to work there
Your Profile
You're a seasoned backend engineer who enjoys building systems that actually scale (and don't wake you up at 3 a.m.).
- Strong experience developing backend applications with Java (21) and Spring / Spring Boot
- Solid knowledge of Spring Data, Hibernate, and relational databases
- Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and running solutions in AWS environments
- Comfortable using Python for automation, scripting, and system integrations
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using Terraform
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and secure coding principles
- An agile mindset: collaborative, proactive, curious, and always looking to improve (code and yourself)

- Databases: Oracle, Aurora PostgreSQL
- Cloud & Platform: AWS (ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, RDS, S3, SQS, SNS, CloudWatch)
- Infrastructure: Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
- Delivery & Automation: CI/CD pipelines
- Scripting & Integration: Python
- Version control: GitHub / GitLab
- Ways of working: Agile tools (Jira)
? What You Will Be Doing (Concrete responsibilities)
Backend Engineering
- Design, develop, and evolve robust backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot
- Build secure, scalable, and high-performance systems aligned with modern architectural best practices
? Cloud & DevOps
- Deploy, run, and monitor applications on AWS, leveraging managed and serverless services
- Define and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to keep quality high and knowledge flowing
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement, whether it's performance, security, or developer experience
