The IT Standards Engineering & Integration role in the life sciences industry, based in Lisboa, focuses on ensuring the successful integration and standardisation of IT systems and processes. The position requires expertise in technology to support business needs efficiently.

Description

• Define, maintain and govern IT engineering standards across infrastructure, cloud platforms, end-user computing, identity, integration, automation, observability and service management domains.
• Develop and promote reusable reference architectures, design patterns, integration principles and technical guardrails that support consistent delivery across product and project teams
• Ensure technology solutions are designed for operational readiness, including supportability, monitoring, alerting, resilience, backup, disaster recovery, security and compliance requirements.
• Lead technical review and assurance activities for new solutions, major changes and integration proposals, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cyber security, data protection and service management standards.
• Provide technical leadership for integration design, including APIs, middleware, data flows, identity integration, network connectivity and cloud-to-cloud or cloud-to-on-premise integration patterns.
• Maintain visibility of technical debt, standards exceptions and integration risks, ensuring appropriate remediation plans, governance decisions and lifecycle management actions are in place.
• Work with Product Owners, Service Delivery Teams, managed service providers and implementation partners to define engineering expectations, technical acceptance criteria, handover requirements and operational transition standards
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, automation, documentation quality, environment consistency and service transition processes, supporting platform rationalisation, resilience and reuse of enterprise capabilities.

Profile

• Degree-level education in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in IT engineering, infrastructure, cloud, integration or solution architecture.
• Relevant professional qualifications or equivalent experience, such as ITIL, TOGAF, Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture, cyber security, networking, platform engineering, integration architecture or project delivery certifications.
• Strong working knowledge of enterprise technology domains, including cloud services, networking, identity and access management, endpoint platforms, application hosting, integration middleware, observability, automation, cyber security, resilience, disaster recovery, backup, ITIL-aligned service management and structured delivery methodologies.
• Ability to define and govern technical standards, assess solution and integration designs, identify risks, challenge assumptions and provide pragmatic recommendations that balance business needs, cost, risk and delivery pace. Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation and influencing skills, including the ability to translate complex technical topics for technical and non-technical audiences in multi-vendor and managed service environments.
• Portugal-based role with hybrid working aligned to local policy. The role has no direct reports, no indirect reports, no people management responsibility and no budget accountability. Occasional travel may be required to support global stakeholder engagement, transition activities, supplier governance or major project delivery
