Elementis is establishing a new office and modern laboratory in Porto, Portugal. They offer exciting roles in Research & Development, Human Resources, Finance, Logistics, Customer Service, Regulatory/Product Stewardship, Sales & Marketing, providing a diverse range of opportunities to grow and make an impact. Most of the roles are regional or global.
The Head of Global Communications and Engagement role will partner with the CHRO, CEO, key HR and functional senior leaders, and SVPs to create and deliver internal and external corporate communications globally and to lead company-wide initiatives on Employee Engagement. The role will set and govern corporate and employer branding standards; manage communication strategies to external corporate audiences and to internal employees & teams; and lead issues & crisis communication, with the aim to protect and enhance Elementis’ reputation. It will ensure the delivery of communication strategies that represent our culture and employer brand, and foster our engagement ambitions and wider initiatives globally, championing the delivery of our Employee Engagement goals. 

Your new role

Planning & Delivery  
  • Oversee the creation of proactive and effective communication strategies globally across a range of internal / external facing campaigns, programs and engagement activities that are consistent, aligned to our values and purpose, and which achieve key business outcomes. 
  • Manage day-to-day planning and delivery of communication initiatives; from coordinating and managing key materials, to supporting execution of strategic comms launches.  
  • Oversee  our bi-annual Employee Engagement survey working with Gallup and key stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery with a high level of response rates and follow-up.  
  • Oversee global engagement programs including LinkedIn Learning, Volunteering Day and Employee Assistance Program. 

Management of Key Systems & Processes  
  • Own the strategy, framework, lay-out and wider ‘look & feel’ of content across communication materials including a variety of channels; from website, to intranet and wider social media.  
  • Ensure accountability and clear processes for content and updates across our key communication channels; oversee the production of inspirational, consistent and up-to-date messaging to current and future employees, customers and partners.  
  • Own the global crisis framework and approach to Crisis Communication ensuring key stakeholders are trained and prepared. Accountable for all communication related to crisis. 
  • Own the development, maintenance and performance of the website and intranet ensuring fit for purpose. 

Supporting Key Events & Initiatives
  • Lead large-scale opportunities and coordinate key business initiatives from Town Halls, to conferences and wider critical meetings.  

Innovation and Improvement  
  • Ensure to embed best practice and strong communication capabilities globally.  
  • Set corporate standards and governance for communications globally, whilst ensuring business objectives, strategies and values are continuously aligned and embedded within communication materials and initiatives.  

Partner with Senior Leaders  
  • Partner with leaders across the business; including the CEO, CHRO and function SVPs to design, influence, and deliver key communication, and provide insights on engagement initiatives.  

Analytics & Reporting 
  • Provide rich and effective outcomes and measures across global communication strategies and initiatives both internally and externally. 
  • Use metrics and insights generated to drive improvement in communication and engagement.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • 5 years+ leading communications for a function/segment/region , preferably within a global context
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and good knowledge with communications systems (adobe photoshop, video editing, sharepoint)
  • Verbal and written fluency in English
  • Some travel required


This position will have an hybrid regime with a minimum of 3 days in the office.
