Job Description
The Financial Accountant will be responsible for the full spectrum of financial accounting and related activities for German subsidiaries within AlTi's International Wealth Management division.
This role is critical in supporting the Head of Financial Accounting by overseeing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and facilitating effective communication with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
With a broad scope of responsibilities, the Financial Accountant will also play an active role in driving process improvements, enhancing financial systems, and contributing to strategic initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing financial accounting, including maintaining open item accounts (OPOS).
- Prepare quarterly and monthly management accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
- Import and reconcile payroll data from HRV systems.
- Post incoming invoices digitally using the designated workflow system.
- Prepare timely VAT returns and where required ZM reports.
- Prepare Bundesbank reporting for large exposures and foreign payments using the general reporting portal, following all relevant regulations.
- Prepare and process payment transactions, direct debits, and outgoing invoices.
- Independently manage special accounting topics as delegated by the Head of Financial Accounting.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer payments.
Qualifications
- Qualified or practice-trained accountant - Essential
- Fluent in German and English (written and spoken) - Essential
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of financial accounts and reports - Essential
- Experience in working across multiple concurrent deadlines and managing varied priorities effectively
- Familiarity with multi-currency accounting and international financial operations
- Proven experience preparing financial statements under German GAAP (HGB)
- Strong commercial acumen and technical understanding of investment advisory transactions
- A proactive, hands-on mindset with a strong sense of accountability and ownership
- Ability to think strategically, identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute to financial controls and process enhancements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities
