Director of Sales & Business Development

Lisbon, Portugal Global Travel

€70-75k base + 40% bonus (flexible for the right person) + private healthcare


We're working with a highly innovative deep-tech company that builds advanced scientific imaging technology used across space organisations, life sciences and high-end industrial applications.


They're at a key growth stage and are looking for someone to take ownership of their global commercial function - not just managing sales but shaping how it evolves. You'll work closely with the MD to define and execute the commercial strategy over the next 5 years.


What you'll be doing

This is a hands-on, high-impact role - not a pure management position.


You'll be:

  • Opening new markets and applications, with an initial focus on the space domain (SDA) globally
  • Building a strong pipeline from scratch through proactive business development
  • Leading and closing high-value, complex deals
  • Growing key partnerships and leveraging existing networks to drive expansion
  • Leading and developing a small but ambitious commercial team
  • Working closely with product and engineering to feed customer insight into product direction
  • Representing the business globally across events, partners, and customers


What They're Looking For

Someone who:

  • Has 10+ years in B2B technical or complex sales environments, ideally within:
  • life sciences
  • scientific instrumentation
  • imaging / photonics
  • space or deep-tech sectors
  • Has a strong track record of winning new business, not just account management
  • Is comfortable selling into technical stakeholders (OEMs, research labs, engineering teams)
  • Can operate strategically with leadership, but is still hands-on in building pipeline and closing deals
  • Has experience leading or mentoring teams, with a player-coach mindset
  • Is commercially sharp - understands pipeline, forecasting, and scaling revenue

We're open to slightly different profiles depending on experience - particularly candidates coming from life sciences or other complex technical sales backgrounds - and can offer flexibility on salary for the right individual.
