The Design Engineer will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative plastic injection moulded products. Having a strong background in plastic materials, mould design, and injection moulding processes, along with proficiency in CAD software. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, creative problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes to deliver high-quality, cost-effective designs.
Description
Design and develop plastic injection moulds and components using CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD);
Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to optimise mould designs for manufacturability, functionality, ease of assembly and cost-efficiency;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including commercial, marketing, production, and quality assurance to ensure design integrity and performance;
Select appropriate plastic materials and recommend suitable moulding techniques based on project requirements and specifications;
Generate detailed engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and specifications for mould designs;
Perform design reviews, risk assessments, and validation tests to verify product performance and quality;
Identify and troubleshoot design issues, recommending solutions and improvements as needed;
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in plastic injection moulding;
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to project timelines and deadlines;
Provide technical support and guidance to engineers and team members as required.
Profile
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field;
Minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering with a focus on plastic injection moulding;
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo) and simulation tools (e.g., Moldflow);
Project Management qualifications are desirable but not essential;
Strong knowledge of plastic materials, mould design principles, and injection moulding processes;
Experience with DFMA (Design for Manufacturability & Assembly);
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills;
Strong project management & leadership skills;
Effective communication and collaboration skills;
Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality and precision.
