Role Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Data Engineer based in Lisbon to help us develop and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in enabling our analysts and machine learning engineers to uncover critical insights from diverse and complex datasets.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support machine learning and analytics workflows.
  • Optimise and manage databases, data lakes, and data warehouses to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and developers to understand data requirements and implement efficient data solutions.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through robust data governance practices.
  • Continuously explore new technologies and approaches to enhance data processing, storage, and retrieval capabilities.
  • Manage and maintain our owned server infrastructure to support ongoing projects.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience managing owned server infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and developing data solutions.
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and big data technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with geospatial data or open-source intelligence.
  • Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and frameworks.
  • Previous experience working in international or geo-politically oriented projects.
