Apgar is looking to recruit an Data Architect Consultant to join our dynamic team in Porto. As a Data Architect Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing Data Platforms and Data Management solutions that align with our clients business needs and enterprise architecture. You will work closely with client technical teams, enterprise architects, and business stakeholders to define the best-fit data architecture, ensuring that proposed solutions integrate seamlessly into the existing IT and application ecosystem and contribute to its evolution.
Beyond solution design, you will be responsible for guiding developers in the deployment and operationalization of the architecture, ensuring a smooth implementation.

What you'll be doing
Solution Architecture & Data Platform Design
- Understand business and technical requirements by engaging with client teams to identify pain points and data challenges.
- Design scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms that align with enterprise architecture and cloud strategy.
- Define data integration, storage, processing, and governance frameworks, ensuring solutions are future-proof and adaptable.
- Assess the client's existing IT infrastructure, application landscape, and cloud environment, proposing enhancements where needed.
Client Interaction & Technical Advisory
- Collaborate closely with client technical and architectural teams, ensuring alignment between data management solutions and enterprise IT strategy.
- Lead technical workshops and architecture discussions to define best practices for data platform implementation.
- Provide architectural governance, ensuring that data solutions are maintainable, scalable, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Solution Implementation & Development Support
- Translate architectural blueprints into actionable development plans, ensuring clarity for data engineers and developers.
- Define and document technical specifications, data flow diagrams, and system integration plans.
- Guide development teams in implementing data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, or governance solutions.
- Ensure operationalization of the architecture, supporting DevOps, CI/CD best practices.
Project Execution & Governance
- Define solution roadmaps, ensuring a phased and structured approach to implementation.
- Contribute to the definition of data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and industry regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior consultants and developers.
You are
You are an experienced Data Architect with strong technical expertise in Data Platforms and Data Management. You are comfortable interacting with both business and IT stakeholders, translating business needs into scalable, cloud-ready architectures.
You have hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and are proficient in designing and implementing data solutions (e.g. Data Lakes, Data Lakehouses, Master Data Management (MDM)).
You have the ability to define, document, and communicate architectural designs while also guiding developers through the implementation phase.

Your Experience, Skills, and Competencies
Core Experience
- 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing Data Platforms, Data Management, or Data Architecture solutions.
- Experience working with modern data platforms/concepts (Snowflake, DataBriks, Microsoft Data Fabric) is a plus.
- Experience working with hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP), with knowledge of data lakes, warehouses, and cloud-native data services.
- Familiarity with data modeling, data pipelines, data lineage, and metadata management.
Certifications (a plus but not mandatory)
- AWS / Azure / Google
- Databricks / Snowflake
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
