Job Title: Corporate Tax Manager
Location: Lisbon, Porto, or Guarda, Portugal
Department: Corporate Finance
Reports to: Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Job purpose:
Based in Portugal and reporting to Group CFO, this role is responsible for managing tax compliance and reporting, overseeing strategic tax planning, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across COFICAB's global operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end corporate income tax compliance process, ensuring timely and accurate filing across jurisdictions.
- Maintain and monitor the global tax compliance calendar, ensuring all deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.
- Supervise tax accounting and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations and IFRS standards.
- Review and manage the preparation of tax returns, extensions, and supporting documentation.
- Respond to inquiries, notices, and audits from tax authorities globally.
- Advise cross-functional teams and business leaders on the tax implications of operations, contracts, restructurings, and cross-border transactions.
- Define and track tax-related KPIs, identify process improvement opportunities, and implement best practices and digital tools to enhance tax function performance.
- Comply with the Quality and EHS Systems requirements. Comply with corporate values, code of conducts and non disclosure agreement.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Chartered Accountant, CPA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years' experience in international corporate tax, ideally within a multinational or Big 4 environment.
- Strong expertise in international taxation, IFRS, local tax laws, and transfer pricing.
- Experience managing tax audits, cross-border filings, and corporate restructuring projects.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and tax reporting tools.
- English is a must
