FINANCIAL CONTROLLER - Audax Sucursal Portugal

Audax Renovables ( ) is an independent company listed on the Spanish stock exchange dedicated to the production of electricity from 100% renewable energy sources, as well as the commercialization of electricity and gas. Present in 7 countries, Audax Portugal is finding a Financial Controller sited in Miraflores (Oeiras).

This individual will have post qualification experience in one or more global or multi-national organizations and will support the CFO Iberia of Audax Group with the preparation of Audax Portugal financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Financial Controller will possess the knowledge and experience to ensure accurate, compliant and useful financial reports are produced.

Scope & Responsibilities

Finance

• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including review of subsidiary performance.
• Preparation of budgets, forecasts, and analytical reports for Audax Portugal
• Proactively identify accounting and financial issues, along with emerging trends and recommend effective solutions
• Manage quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting & produce financial statements
• Manage and comply with in-country government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Active participation in internal and external audit process & external tax advisory & external accounting provider.
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision making
• Act as a key liaison between Portuguese subsidiary and HQ sited in Spain

Process Improvement

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls for financial processes
• Continually look for ways to improve operations within the Portuguese team, recommending changes which will improve efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements :

Previous experience in similar roles in companies in the energy and/or gas sector.

Technical / Functional Skills

• Strong finance & group accounting experience across multiple organisations, currencies, and countries
• Expert user of Microsoft Excel and strong overall proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Familiarity with financial ERP: SAP is highly valuated
• Knowledge and experience of European statutory filings/taxes is essential
• Native in Portuguese, fluency in English (Spanish desirable)

Qualifications

• Degree in Management, Economics and/or Finance;
• And preferably a Master's degree and/or Postgraduate qualification in Controller (preferably, but not mandatory).

Travel Requirements: Minimal - some European (mainly Spain) travel required for team meeting.
