Position: Cobol Developer

Location: Lisbon (Hybrid)

Type: Fulltime, Hybrid from Lisbon (2-3 days onsite per week)

Languages: English (minimum B2); french (B2) is a big plus!

Candidates must possess a valid work permit for Portugal

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Cobol Developer with expertise in MQ/CFT, JCL, Cobol, C, Script Shell, MVS, CICS, DB2, and related technologies to join our dynamic IT team.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of legacy systems and will be able to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. You will be involved in all stages of the development life cycle, including analyzing requirements, designing solutions, coding, testing, and deployment

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Cobol Developer with expertise in MQ/CFT and CICS.
• Strong knowledge of JCL, DB2, Script Shell scripting, CFT, JCL, Jira/Confluence, Eclipse, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git).
• Ability to write clear and efficient Cobol code and debug complex programs.
• Familiarity with software development life cycle and agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
• Languages Required: English (minimum B2); french (B2) is a big plus!
• Availability for a hybrid working model, based in Lisbon
• Candidates must possess a valid work permit for Portugal

Key Responsabilities:

• Develop and maintain Cobol programs that support business processes.
• Design and implement MQ and CFT solutions for data transmission.
• Write and maintain JCLs for job scheduling and execution.
• Debug and troubleshoot code to ensure system functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and design solutions.
• Optimize existing database queries and ensure data integrity in DB2.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior developers and team members.
