We're looking for a Cloud Data Engineer to join a freelance long-term project with one of the world's leading professional services firms. Hybrid role - 2 days/week in Lisbon.
You'll be at the center of a serious data platform build: end-to-end architectures, Azure-native stack, Medallion patterns, pipeline optimization. Not a maintenance gig - this is a foundational role with real architectural ownership that evolves over time.
What you'll be working with:
- Microsoft Azure: Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse
- Data lakes & warehouses: Azure Data Lake, Delta Lake, BigQuery, Redshift
- Python (Pandas, Boto3), SQL, Spark
- RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch)
- CI/CD pipelines for data solutions (DataOps)
- Data quality, lineage tracking, monitoring at scale
What we're looking for:
- Solid experience designing end-to-end data architectures (Medallion or similar)
- Hands-on with Azure cloud-native tooling
- DevOps/DataOps mindset - not just building, but maintaining and scaling
- Strong English - written and verbal
The setup: Hybrid Lisbon (2 days/week on-site). Freelance engagement via a Shakers, tech talent community that connects senior engineers with top international clients.
