We are looking for a Defense & Security Sales and Business Development Manager in Europe preferably in Lisbon, responsible for the North and Western Africa regions.
Business Development Manager
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
You will be responsible for Sales and Business Development in some countries within the North and Western Africa regions. You will be promoting all products from Embraer's Defense and Security portfolio, with a special focus on military aircraft (C-390 Millennium and A-29 Super Tucano) but also radars and C3I systems, through management, coordination, monitoring and control of sales and business development activities in accordance with Embraer's requirements.
MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will operate across a range of sales opportunities from initial market development and qualification, through the support of proposal development and contract negotiations.
- You will play the pivotal role in interpreting the business opportunity and the customers' requirements; the analysis of the competition; identification of the company's relative strengths, and the creation of business-winning strategies.
- You will have, or be able to develop, effective relationships with a range of principal stakeholders both internal and external. These will include Government and Non-Government Organizations, the Armed Services of a nation (with special focus on the Air Forces), the broader defense industry, and the diplomatic diaspora. You will be able to accurately interpret, verify and disseminate data obtained from engagement with these contacts.
- You will need to have strong communication skills. You will need to be comfortable engaging informally and formally at ministerial level and with senior armed forces officers. You will need to understand the complexity of the operational, political and business environment, and to have written and oral briefing skills to communicate these factors. You should be able to reach informed conclusions and use evidence to make recommendations in an accurate and compelling manner.
- You will need to be alive to the defense industry and be able to interpret the impact to Embraer's interests of defense acquisition activities and trends amongst armed services or other government institutions.
- You will be able identify new business opportunities for the company's products and services, especially in the Air domain.
- You will be expected to contribute to the company's plans and actions for media, marketing, communication and publications to strengthen Embraer's image and perception with authorities and government stakeholders.
- Embraer places significant importance on ethics and its Code of Conduct. Embraer will need you to comply with company and department norms, policies, directives, and procedures, especially those from the FCPA and all relevant nations' export control regulations.
PROFILE OF THE SUITABLE CANDIDATE
- Bachelor Level educational background & relevant experience with a defense environment.
- Profound knowledge of the key defense technologies/trends on the current and future Air and Military Operations.
- Travel and business experience in Africa.
- Familiar with Defence & Security procurement processes and practices.
- Self-confidence, resilience and flexibility are necessary skills to succeed in this role.
- Methodic, goal oriented.
- Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Portuguese languages is of great advantage.
- Eligible to live and work in Europe.
- Capable and willing to travel frequently.
