Job Title: Backend Java Developer

Location: Lisbon, Braga, or Coimbra, Portugal

Job Type: Contract / Hybrid model 1 day office based

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Java Developer with extensive experience in building scalable, high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and Kotlin, with a strong background in designing and implementing microservices and RESTful APIs. Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Firestore is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java and Kotlin.
• Build and deploy microservices using Spring Boot.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to support frontend and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Leverage GCP services, particularly Firestore, for cloud-native development (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good senior-level stakeholder management soft skills and competencies.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years' experience as a Backend Java Developer
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Kotlin in backend development.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and REST APIs/HTTP.
• Familiarity with GCP and Firestore is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
